{"id":384,"date":"2012-12-17T14:23:27","date_gmt":"2012-12-17T12:23:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/edublog.me\/spielzuegeundregelbrueche\/?p=384"},"modified":"2013-01-31T10:34:43","modified_gmt":"2013-01-31T08:34:43","slug":"goals-and-requirements-of-the-seminar","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/edublog.me\/spielzuegeundregelbrueche\/2012\/12\/17\/goals-and-requirements-of-the-seminar\/","title":{"rendered":"F.Y.I.: Goals and requirements of the seminar"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Goals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This seminar is follwing a project-based approach.<br \/>\nGoals are a theoretical approach to learning\/playing, an analysis of game examples and their mechanics, a connection of own interests and topics with a game based approach, and a reflected draft of a game concept or a prototype.<\/p>\n<p>With other words, this means translating an abstract topic into a medium of interactivity, challenge and fun. If the topic would be &#8220;learning how to collaboratively work on a challenge&#8221; or &#8220;learning how to get around in Germany (for a Fin)&#8221;, you could &#8216;translate&#8217; this into a radio drama, a TV show, a novel \u2013 or a game.<br \/>\nA game is a medium with its own restrictions and liberties, its own strengths and weaknesses. By trying to &#8216;fit&#8217; a topic into a new medium, one learns as well about medial possibilities as about the restraints of the topic itself: It is Marshall McLuhan&#8217;s assumption &#8220;The medium is the message&#8221; put in practice.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>participation on chat sessions<\/li>\n<li>reading texts relevant for one&#8217;s project approach<\/li>\n<li>posting and commenting in the blog<\/li>\n<li>working on a draft and\/or playable prototype, including a set of rules to play<\/li>\n<li>writing a documentation and reflection on design decisions<\/li>\n<li>presenting the game concept (Jan 24th\/25th 2013)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Goals This seminar is follwing a project-based approach.
